Deborah R. Pickens began her lifetime commitment to Delta in 1996 with the Columbus (OH) Alumnae Chapter and has remained active through various professional career transitions. Consequently, Deborah has also been a member of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter as well as the Greater Cleveland Alumnae Chapter during her journey in Delta.
In 2013 during Delta’s centennial celebration, Deborah was awarded the Midwest Centennial Soror of the Year for her steadfast devotion and simultaneous work on all three levels of the sorority – locally, regionally, and nationally. She was honored with the distinction of Soror of the Year for the 2015-2016 sorority year by the Columbus Alumnae Chapter. She is a past member of National Charitable Partnership Task Force, past member of National Corporate Partnership Task Force, as well as past Midwest Region Financial Manager and Special Projects Coordinator. Deborah has served as treasurer and financial secretary of the Columbus (OH) Alumnae Chapter and currently provides support to the Pi Kappa Chapter as financial secretary.
Mrs. Pickens is a retired employee of Eaton, a $20 billion power management company with regional headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. She championed the supplier diversity initiative for Eaton by fostering the development of minority, woman and veteran-owned business enterprises as well as small businesses, serving on local diversity purchasing councils, and integrating inclusion into all procurement processes.
Mrs. Pickens is an active member of the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church. She currently serves as the Church Moderator, Treasurer of the Trustee Board, and coordinator of the Scholarship Program within the Christian Education Ministry.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Diversity Specialization from Cleveland State University. She is a Certified Diversity Professional and holds certification from The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) as a Certified Purchasing Manager.
